New Ways To Decorate Your Fridge.
You may have had your fridge for a day, a week, a year or a decade, but a fridge is just a fridge without any decoration. Here in Panama its known as a linea blanca item, even if it isn't white! It also reminds me of a cruel joke: Why do women get married in white? To blend in with the kitchen. See, I told you it was terrible. Well we want to do women justice and we want to make our fridges the topic of conversation in the kitchen, so how do we start?
Art Gallery Fridge
One of the obvious ways is to put drawings on the fridge, to make it kind of like a miniature art gallery. These could be stuff that you have drawn or if you have children, their latest masterpiece done at school or home. There is something rewarding for children to see their artistic talent however great or small displayed for all the world to see. You also don't know how far this early demonstration of positive thinking and outcomes can affect such a young mind. If it´s your work you could surprise yourself and inspire yourself to tap into a talent you didn't know existed, or you had put on hold.
Photo Shop Fridge
Photos seem to be going out of fashion these days with digital cameras and iPhones and the like. Even photo albums are a dying trend, so what a great idea to have a photo album on the fridge door, before people forget what photos are. It´s even nice to touch a photo with your finger as you remember the occasion on which the photo was taken: it´s not quite the same as touching an image on a screen. Printing photo´s are not too difficult so make the most of that while you still can. Before and after photos are fun too.
Agenda Fridge
Are you terrible at remembering things? What about putting an agenda on the fridge door, so that every time you open it you can see your schedule? Let´s face it, people tend to go to the fridge more often than they realize and it would help to have a constant non-threatening reminder each time you do go there.
Another thing to put up there is reminders to do things, not quite an agenda, but on a similar scale. Instead of putting up random bits of torn off paper, you could decorate it with colours or put different shapes up with different things. For example appointments in pink circles, to do lists in green squares etc...
Future Planner Fridge
If you are planning your holidays and you can´t decide where to go, it would also be an idea to post facts and pictures of the different places you are considering, so each time you open the door and the cool refrigerated air comes flowing out you can fantasize on the warm tropical beaches or exotic landscapes you have the potential of visiting. You can also put the price checks on the fridge to tell you the latest dates to book by to save money; this will give you an added incentive to choose too.
Chef Fridge
A firm favourite is to put up recipes on the door - either things you are aspiring to create or things you have made. It´s good for two things: one as a reminder of the ingredients you need to buy and two to inspire you to try new things. If you are planning a major event like having the family over for a meal, or a smaller scale event, it will give you plenty of time to plan for the occasion. You could even divide the fridge in two: recipes tried /recipes to try. Or even into four areas: to try, tried, good and bad. You could even have a work in progress section where you write comments on a recipe for improvements or tweaks to the recipe.
Dictionary Fridge
New words or phrases are great ways to improve your vocabulary or the vocabulary of your children. If you or anyone In your household are learning a new language it can help to have words stuck on your fridge to review every time you need to go there. You could even have pictures of the new words or words for the different content in your fridge. You don't have to stop at one word either: create lists of related words and synonyms to help that vocabulary flow.
Review Fridge
One final thing to consider displaying would be book reviews, theatre reviews or any kind of review that you can read up on and consider treating yourself or your family too: trips to the theatre make excellent gift ideas.
With all the ideas above, your fridge never need be just a fridge again.
